REPORTS

Public reporting is a central component of the Fair Labor Association's work. By providing information about company practices in factories and around the globe, the FLA enables consumers to make responsible buying decisions. We also provide positive incentives for companies to improve workplace conditions where they do business.

To this end, the FLA reports on company labor compliance globally in its annual Public Report and at the factory level using the FLA Tracking Charts. The FLA also issues Special Reports on key labor issues and FLA activities to improve working conditions internationally.

FLA Public Reporting

FLA Public Report: The FLA Charter requires that the FLA report annually on FLA company labor compliance activities. To date, two annual Public Reports have been published. The most recent report, published in August 2004, provides the public with an impartial, in-depth view into what 25 diverse companies have done in the past year to improve the working conditions in the factories where they produce around the world. It also contains an overview of FLA monitoring findings, case studies of third party complaints, and an in-focus report on freedom of association.

FLA Factory Tracking Charts: Tracking Charts provide the public with detailed information about the compliance situation of individual factories producing for FLA companies. They outline the specific labor issues that were found during FLA unannounced visits and the action taken by FLA companies to remediate the findings. These charts outline the series of events that take place in the FLA independent external monitoring (IEM) process.

Together, the FLA Public Report and Tracking Charts represent the most comprehensive body of independent reporting on companies' efforts to promote adherence to international labor standards published to date.
