Patagonia Assessment for Reaccreditation, October 2017

On October 4th, 2017, the FLA Board of Directors voted to approve the reaccreditation of Patagonia's labor compliance program. Patagonia's reaccreditation covers the period from 2014 to 2017. The reaccreditation commends several of Patagonia's strengths, including the company's strong engagement with civil socieity to address issues facing migrant workers, pursue living wages, and ensure workers have a voice in their workplaces; and its strong top management commitment to human rights.

Syngenta Seed Supply Chains in Hungary and Turkey, 2016

In July and August 2016, during periods of peak seed production activity, the FLA conducted unannounced independent external monitoring (IEM) visits to assess working conditions at Syngenta‘s seed supplier farms – two assessments in Hungary and two in Turkey in the corn and sunflower supply chains. Teams consisting of external assessors visited eight large and medium-sized farms in Hungary and 21 small farms in Turkey.

2016 Assessments of Shared Hazelnut Supply Chain in Turkey: Nestle, Balsu, and Olam

In August 2016, the Fair Labor Association (FLA) conducted independent assessments in the Turkish hazelnut supply chain shared by three FLA affiliates – Nestlé, and its two strategic first-tier suppliers, Balsu and Olam Progida which together account for 100 percent of Nestlé’s hazelnut volume in Turkey. Based on both internal and external monitoring results, company affiliates must develop and implement remediation actions leading to sustainable changes.

Alignment with the FLA Workplace Code of Conduct as of October 2016

The founding Charter of the Fair Labor Association (FLA) requires each affiliated company to “adopt, and cause its applicable licensees, contractors, and suppliers to adopt, the FLA Workplace Code in the manufacture of its products.” As of October 31, 2016, 97 percent of all code elements followed by FLA Participating Companies and Suppliers met FLA standards.
