Accreditation Assessment of Textiles Opico's Social Compliance Program

The FLA Board of Directors voted on June 8, 2016 to approve the accreditation of Textiles Opico's social compliance program, based on proven adherence to FLA's Workplace Code of Conduct and the Principles of Fair Labor and Responsible Production. Textiles Opico owns and operates a manufacturing facilitity in San Juan Opico, El Salvador, and earns accreditation following one factory assessment, two field observations, one headquarter assessment, and other research, interviews, and document review by FLA staff. The accreditation report below explains a number of noteworthy programs implemented for workers in the San Juan Opico facility, including the certification of the on-site childcare center as a Montessori school, and the provision of building materials for workers' home improvements.

The complexity and ever-evolving nature of global supply chains make it impossible to guarantee that a product is made in conditions free of labor rights violations. For this reason, FLA does not certify suppliers. Instead, the FLA evaluates companies at the headquarter level – in addition to standard factory-level due diligence activities that are conducted annually – to determine whether they have social compliance systems in place to proactively identify and address risks or instances of noncompliance.  Please find the full report linked below the photo.
