FLA On Campus

More than 200 colleges and universities are allied with the FLA to ensure that collegiate products bearing their logos are manufactured in just and humane working conditions. Colleges and universities that are affiliated with the FLA commit themselves to the FLA approach of developing comprehensive, proactive, and sustainable change to protect workers’ rights and improve workers’ lives.

A Team Approach to Fighting Sweatshops

A key strength of the FLA is its multi-stakeholder approach; it brings together colleges and universities, civil society organizations, and leading brands to create sustainable improvements in labor rights and workplace conditions. Having all three groups represented in equal numbers on the FLA’s policy-making Board of Directors encourages cooperation and accountability. Equally important, having companies that are committed to ending sweatshop labor associated with the FLA provides a powerful means of encouraging factory owners to abide by internationally recognized labor standards and ensure that their workers are treated fairly.

Since 1999, the Fair Labor Association has helped improve the lives of hundreds of thousands of workers by:

  • Holding companies accountable to the Fair Labor Association Workplace Code of Conduct.
  • Monitoring factories around the world and ensuring that noncompliance issues are treated in an appropriate and timely manner.
  • Developing innovative, sustainable solutions to labor abuses.
