Monitoring

Independent External Monitoring (IEM) is part of the FLA’s core work. Though our unannounced IEM audits of factories used by affiliated companies, we verify companies’ internal monitoring efforts and ensure that the FLA Workplace Code of Conduct is being enforced. Submitting to the FLA’s IEM audits is one of the ten company obligations affiliated companies are required to fulfill.

Through our accreditation program, monitoring organizations become accredited to conduct independent external monitoring of facilities used by affiliated Companies. Monitors are accredited for specific regions in which they document and display (through shadow auditing conducted by the FLA prior to accreditation) experience and expertise. All monitors must demonstrate independence, impartiality, and a high degree of rigor and thoroughness in assessing compliance with the FLA’s Workplace Code of Conduct.
