Hungarian Labor Code Changes Regarding Overtime and Compensation

The Government of Hungary adopted a significant change to the Hungarian Labor Code that came into effect in January 2019. The new provisions put workers at risk of coerced and excessive overtime hours, and at risk for untimely payment for their hours worked. The new law is in contravention of international standards and the Fair Labor Association's Code of Conduct benchmark elements on working hours and compensation.

This issue brief provides recommendations to mitigate the risk to workers for FLA affilifates sourcing from Hungary.
