On August 2, 2011, FLA released a report about an investigation into allegations of violations of Freedom to Association at the Rimaks Tekstil Facilities in Turkey. No FLA-affiliated companies were sourcing from the factory at the time of the investigation. FLA worked closely with the Business Social Compliance Initiative, MODINT, Dutch Association of Fashion Retailers, and Fair Wear Foundation to assess the issues and to find solutions. Collective bargaining negotiations between Rimaks and the Turkish Textile Workers’ Union (TEKSIF) were ongoing during the time the investigation was conducted and concluded with a signed collective bargaining agreement on December 2, 2010. Investigative efforts produced a set of 10 recommendations to help prevent future disputes.
On April 5, 2013, FLA hosted a meeting with Rimaks Tekstil and the trade union TEKSIF at its office in Istanbul. The supplier and union described a number of positive developments and improvements at the factory since FLA's investigation, including the collective agreement reached in December 2010.
