FLA participating company New Era Cap recently hosted its 2011 Supply Chain Partnership Symposium in Shanghai, China, which brought together over 100 participants from New Era’s supply chain in China and Vietnam, as well as guest speakers from Major League Baseball, InFact Global Partners, the China Center for Labor and Environment, and the Esquel Group. Over the three days, participants had the opportunity to learn, discuss, and exchange ideas on how to address challenges in manufacturing and improve collaboration in the supply chain. New Era Cap Company was approved by the FLA Board for affiliation as a Participating Company in 2003. The FLA Board accredited New Era Cap’s labor compliance program in June 2007.

This assessment for reaccreditation of New Era Cap’s labor compliance program covers the period 2007-2009. It is based on information provided by New Era Cap in its annual reports to the FLA, verified through visits to the company’s headquarter office, field observation, a review of FLA supplier-level assessments at New Era Cap applicable facilities, and interactions with civil society organizations.

New Era Cap Company (NEC) is the largest sports-licensed headwear company in the United States and the world.  NEC produces and markets headwear under license to U.S. professional sports leagues such as Major League Baseball (MLB), the National Basketball Association (NBA), and the National Hockey League (NHL), as well as to colleges and universities.

The FLA Board of Directors voted to approve the accreditation of New Era Cap’s compliance program on June 12, 2007, based on proven adherence to FLA’s Workplace Code of Conduct and the Obligations of Companies.
