Accreditation of Pou Chen's Social Compliance Program

The FLA Board of Directors voted on June 20, 2018 to approve the accreditation of Pou Chen Group's social compliance program. FLA accreditation report specifically recognizes as strengths Pou Chen's transparency in remediating labor violations in its production sites, investment in social compliance training, and multiple grievance channels.

Syngenta seed Supply Chain in Thailand, 2016

For the assessment year 2016-2017, the FLA conducted unannounced independent external monitoring (IEM) visits to assess working conditions at Syngenta’s corn supply chain in Thailand between the months of October 2016 and May 2017. The assessments covered around 30 acres of corn farms located in Kanchanaburi, Lampang, and Tak provinces.

Alignment with the FLA Workplace Code of Conduct

The founding Charter of the Fair Labor Association (FLA) requires each affiliated company to “adopt, and cause its applicable licensees, contractors, and suppliers to adopt, the FLA Workplace Code in the manufacture of its products.” As of March 26, 2018, 98 percent of all code elements followed by Participating Companies and Suppliers met FLA standards, as did 85 percent of all code elements followed by Category B Licensees.

Syngenta Seed Supply Chain in South America, 2016

From December 2016 to March 2017, during periods of peak seed production activity, the FLA conducted unannounced independent external monitoring (IEM) visits to assess working conditions at Syngenta‘s seed supplier farms in Argentina and Brazil. Two assessments took place in Argentina (covering farms in the provinces of San Luis and Mendoza) and two in Brazil (in the province of Uberlandia and state of Parana) where Syngenta is sourcing corn and sunflower seeds.

Category B Licensee Alignment With the FLA Workplace Code of Conduct

2016 Assessments of Olam's Cocoa Supply Chain in Ivory Coast

As part of the annual assessment of its affiliate members, the FLA since 2013 has conducted monitoring visits in Olam's cocoa supply chain in Côte d’Ivoire. In 2016, the FLA focused its independent external monitoring (IEM) visits on three cooperatives that had never been assessed before.

Patagonia Assessment for Reaccreditation, October 2017

On October 4th, 2017, the FLA Board of Directors voted to approve the reaccreditation of Patagonia's labor compliance program. Patagonia's reaccreditation covers the period from 2014 to 2017. The reaccreditation commends several of Patagonia's strengths, including the company's strong engagement with civil socieity to address issues facing migrant workers, pursue living wages, and ensure workers have a voice in their workplaces; and its strong top management commitment to human rights.
