The FLA Board of Directors voted on February 8, 2017 to approve the accreditation of arena Group's social compliance program. Details on FLA's accreditation methodology can be found at www.fairlabor.org/accreditation.
The arena Group accreditation comes after the FLA has conducted seven SCI assessments (in China, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Turkey), two field visits to shadow internal audits in China and Bulgaria, and one headquarter visit to Italy. The FLA accreditation report specifically recognizes as strengths arena's top management commitment, internal training programs, supplier training programs, and organization and analysis of social compliance data.
The complex and ever-evolving nature of global supply chains make it impossible to guarantee that a product is made in conditions free of labor rights violations. For this reason, FLA does not certify brands. Instead, the FLA evaluates companies at the headquarter level – in addition to standard factory-level due diligence activities that are conducted annually – to determine whether they have social compliance systems in place to proactively identify and address risks or instances of noncompliance.
