2012 Stakeholder Consultation, Addressing Child Labor in Nestlé’s Cocoa Supply Chain in Côte d’Ivoire

On November 26, 2012, FLA, Nestlé, and FLA’s Global Forum for Sustainable Supply Chains organized a stakeholder consultation at Nestlé’s R&D Center in Yopougon, Abidjan. The consultation was part of the Action Plan on the Responsible Sourcing of Cocoa from Côte d’Ivoire, developed by Nestlé in response to the FLA assessment on Nestlé’s cocoa supply chain in Côte d’Ivoire.

Representatives from Nestlé, FLA, and the International Cocoa Initiative joined 38 local stakeholders to focus on addressing child labor in Nestlé’s cocoa supply chain in Côte d’Ivoire. The consultation solicited advice and guidance from local stakeholders on Nestlé’s child labor monitoring and remediation system to identify Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of the system and the role that stakeholders can play in supporting Nestlé’s efforts.
