FLA President Jeff Vockrodt troubled by elimination of ILAB grants
WASHINGTON, April 8, 2025 – Following the termination of millions of dollars in international grants administered by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of International Labor Affairs (ILAB), Fair Labor Association President and CEO Jeff Vockrodt issued the following statement:
“Companies, workers, and consumers all benefit from strong labor standards in global supply chains. The elimination of grant programs administered by ILAB will significantly damage U.S. efforts to combat child labor and forced labor worldwide, weakening the ability of U.S. companies to compete with manufacturers in countries where labor standards are less stringent.
“I urge the U.S. Administration to reverse these shortsighted cuts, which will not only harm workers but also make it more difficult for companies to comply with U.S. forced labor laws.”
