Katya Castillo is FLA’s Program Manager for Central America, Agriculture. She is responsible for the successful implementation of our agriculture Fair Labor Accreditation program in the region. As part of her role, she handles coordination, tracking, and verification, including managing Independent External Assessments (IEAs) and working with our agriculture members to verify and provide guidance on their human rights due diligence programs. She also supports our Fair Labor Investigations work.
Katya joined FLA in 2026. She is Salvadoran lawyer with more than 15 years of experience working on human rights issues, particularly workers’ rights and women’s rights, across sectors including civil society, government, and the private sector. In her last position, she supported the implementation of a workers’ rights strategy in the Americas region, conducted labor investigations, and supported remediation action plans on health and safety for a global apparel and footwear corporation. She has extensive experience with CSO and stakeholder engagement in the Americas, and she has also conducted FLA Third Party Complaint investigations and provided support for manufacturing SCI assessments led by FLA-accredited assessors.Â
Katya currently lives in Mérida, Yucatán, Mexico. She speaks English and Spanish. Â
