FLA launches two-year Collegiate Retailer Program pilot

Issues Fair Labor Human Rights Due Diligence Responsible Purchasing

This month, the Fair Labor Association (FLA) launched a two-year Collegiate Retailer Program pilot to explore meaningful engagement with retailers sourcing and selling FLA member universities‘ licensed products.

The program will focus on building knowledge and capacity for human rights due diligence and responsible business conduct within collegiate-focused retailers’ business operations and throughout their supply chains.

Ten retailers who have significant business relationships with colleges and universities have committed to the pilot: Barnes and Noble College, Cactus Sports (serving Arizona State University), The Cornell Store, Follett Higher Education Group, Grand Canyon University Lope Shop, Lids U, The Pitt Shop & University Store on Fifth, Rally House, the University Co-op (serving The University of Texas at Austin), and Wolfpack Outfitters (serving NC State University).

The retailers will participate in quarterly training sessions on topics such as responsible sourcing and purchasing practices; adopt a code of conduct aligned with our Fair Labor Standards; and identify and disclose vendors’ FLA affiliation status, among other program components.

The pilot will run from July 2026 to June 2028.
