Syngenta Seed Supply Chains in Hungary and Turkey, 2017

In 2017, the FLA conducted three unannounced independent monitoring visits to assess working conditions at Syngenta’s seed supplier farms. Assessors conducted two of these visits in Hungary in July at farms producing sunflower and corn seeds, and one in October in Turkey during the sunflower harvest.

Accreditation of Pou Chen's Social Compliance Program

Accreditation Assessment of Kathmandu's Social Compliance Program

The FLA accreditation report specifically recognizes as strengths Kathmandu's transparent disclosure of its supplier list and FLA-conducted factory assessments on the company website, as well as Kathmandu's collaboration with civil society and other outdoor brands to remediate labor violations in production facilities.

Syngenta seed Supply Chain in Thailand, 2016

For the assessment year 2016-2017, the FLA conducted unannounced independent external monitoring (IEM) visits to assess working conditions at Syngenta’s corn supply chain in Thailand between the months of October 2016 and May 2017. The assessments covered around 30 acres of corn farms located in Kanchanaburi, Lampang, and Tak provinces.

Alignment with the FLA Workplace Code of Conduct

The founding Charter of the Fair Labor Association (FLA) requires each affiliated company to “adopt, and cause its applicable licensees, contractors, and suppliers to adopt, the FLA Workplace Code in the manufacture of its products.” As of March 26, 2018, 98 percent of all code elements followed by Participating Companies and Suppliers met FLA standards, as did 85 percent of all code elements followed by Category B Licensees.
