Sustainability recognition programs name Fair Labor Association as an awards finalist
The Fair Labor Association (FLA) is among the 2021 finalists for awards that honor innovation in the global social sector. The FLA award entries are based on the organization’s belief that factories and farms should be safe places to work, and that each worker has the right to earn a living wage.
The FLA was selected as a Top 50 Finalist for the 2021 Classy Awards. The awards, launched in 2009, shine a spotlight on outstanding programs run by social impact organizations around the world. Winners are chosen in four categories: social innovation, adapt and overcome, lifetime achievement, and people’s choice.
The FLA is eligible for two Global Good Awards categories, Technology for Good and the Special Judges Award for Innovation. The Technology for Good award is open to software and hardware products developed between 2018. and 2020 that have generated a positive impact on the environment or in the community and helped to improve the quality of life for people or the planet either on a local, national or international level. The Special Judges Award for Innovation will be given to the most innovative entry from across all categories.
The FLA’s Living Wage for All applications are based on its Wage Data Collection Toolkit and Fair Compensation Dashboard, which help companies in the garment sector improve worker wages and workers’ quality of life. The FLA tools calculate what workers are earning, illustrate the gap between actual and living wages, and measure progress over time.
The Classy Awards, organized by a San Diego-based B Corp Certified social enterprise that offers online fundraising software for nonprofits recognize excellence in social innovation by identifying and evaluating organizations addressing social problems around the world. Winners are determined by an honorary board and will be announced on September 28. For more information, visit www.awards.classy.org.
The Global Good Awards are an inclusive awards program that recognizes and rewards organizations of all shapes and sizes that are making strides towards a better world for people, the planet, and the global economy. The awards are based in the United Kingdom, with entrants from anywhere in the world. Award winners will be announced on September 22. For more information, visit https://globalgoodawards.co.uk.
