As part of the Fair Labor Accreditation process for the Agriculture Program, FLA conducted an Independent External Monitoring (IEM) assessment of Balsu’s hazelnut supply chain in Türkiye in 2025.
During an IEM, FLA assesses a company’s country-level human rights due diligence program; conducts interviews with local civil society organizations, community stakeholders, farmers, workers, women, and children, and visits a sample of farms to gather data on working conditions.
The performance of management systems is evaluated against our Fair Labor Principles and labor conditions at the farm level are evaluated against the Fair Labor Code.
Based on the results of FLA’s IEM assessment, company members must develop and implement remediation actions leading to sustainable changes.
