FLA's Perspective and Analysis on the USAS Designated Supplier Program proposal
In September 2005, student anti-sweatshop groups across the country urged their campus administrators to support a new proposal aimed at strengthening worker rights in the workplace. The proposal, entitled Designated Supplier Program authored by United Students Against Sweatshop (USAS), calls for greater assurances for freedom of association and living wage in a supplier's supply chain.
The FLA program, including the development of FLA 3.0 and the licensee program, leverages the FLA multi-stakeholder constituency to improve lives of workers around the world. If you need further material or information, please contact Sarah Labowitz at slabowitz@fairlabor.org.
